Fender Percision 1961 Reissue

Fender Percision This is my latest aquistion. It was absolutely an impluse by but I just had to have it. I bought from the Arlington Guitar Center in the summer of 2007. It is 1 3/4" at the nut. A whole 1/4" more than the my Jazz Bass or the newer blonde P-Bass wich each measure only 1 1/2". It really reminds me of the P-Basses I played when I was in high school. The strings are farther apart and it has this nice mellow growl when I play it. I put on slightly heavier guage strings to fill out the tone a little more than the rest of my guitars. It really is a pleasure to play. One drawback, however, is the fact that you have to pop the neck off to make truss rod adjustemnts. It's kind of a pain since the necks on most basses bow out every few months. When the "first" reissues came out in the early 80's I wasn't that interested (even if I had the money) because I felt the the electronics were better on the new ones anyway so why buy old technology. In fact, the first thing I would do with any fender I bought was install DiMarzios and a Badass bridge. This bass is far superior to my other Percision, though.
