I just bought this bass from the Guitar Center on LBJ and Midway
in Dallas on 9/5/05. To this day, still don't know
anything about it. Gotta check the Serial#. All I know
is Musicman first started making the Sterling in 1994. When Musicman
first came out in 1977, I thought the basses were really ugly with that round
tear-drop shaped pick guard. I really didn't care for them until I played
one. Being in high school at the time, it was way out of my budget range. It plays
great and has a nice fast maple neck. With the on-board actives,
I can get a nice full bodied mellow sound or one with a lot of
punch and bite for slapping or cutting through rooms with bad
acoustics. The positioning of the pickup towards the bridge is a
great design improvment over the P-Bass. As I mentioned on other pages,
I've allways been partial to anything designed by Leo Fender.
